China recently completed building the Shanghai Astronomy Museum in Shanghai city. Shanghai is the most populated city in China.

This huge 420,000-square-feet museum is the world’s largest astronomy museum.

The museum is set to open on 18 July 2021. It is a branch of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. This amazing museum will have exhibitions, a planetarium, an observatory and a 78-feet-tall solar telescope.

A US company called Ennead Architects designed the building. They took 5 years to build it.

The astronomy museum

The building does not include any straight lines or right angles. This shows that it has been inspired by the movement of celestial bodies (like planets and stars). This is because, they usually move in a circle-like manner, not in a straight line.

Moreover, the building has three important parts – the Oculus, the Inverted Dome, and the Sphere. They are also astronomical instruments that track the movement of the Sun, Moon, and stars.
