Sardar Patel And His Memorable Life

“Manpower without unity is not a strength unless it is harmonized and united properly, then it becomes a spiritual power.”
– Sardar Vallbhbhai Patel

Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel, popularly known as Sardar Patel, as when the British implemented lagaan against the Bardoli farmers, Patel protested against the British and was successful in the protest, therefore the Bardoli women gave him the title of “Sardar”.

He was an Indian politician and freedom fighter. He was born on 31st October 1875 in Nadiad, though he himself did not know his real birth date. While giving his matric exams he simply took a random date and implemented it and after that day his birth date his 31st October. He served as the First Deputy Prime Minister of India. He was also a strong contender for the post of Prime minister. For Prime Minster Post 3 persons were there 1) Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel 2) Jawaharlal Nehru 3) Kirpal. Out of 15 persons Congress Committee, 12 persons voted for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, 3 Persons voted for Kirpal and no one voted for Jawaharlal Nehru but somehow Kirpal had given his vote to Jawaharlal Nehru & Gandhiji informed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to revoke his name from the Prime minister Post & based on intimation Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel revoked his name without any thoughts. It was his biggest sacrifice.

He was an Indian barrister, a senior leader of the Indian National Congress and a founding father of the Republic of India who played a leading role in the country’s struggle for independence and guided its integration into a united, independent nation and also a very successful lawyer who won most of is cases. He was appointed as the 49th President of Indian National Congress, organising the party for elections in 1934 and 1937 while promoting the Quit India Movement. It was a movement that started on 8 August 1942 during World War II petitioning an end to the British Rule Of India.

His commitment to national integration in the newly independent country was total and uncompromising, earning him the sobriquet “Iron Man of India”. He is also remembered as the “Patron saint of India’s civil servants” for having inveterate the modern-India-service system. This great man who changed the world and who lived in the hearts of every Indian was also known as “Unifier of India”. The World’s tallest statue “Statue of Unity” was dedicated to this strong-willed man on 31 October 2018, which is approximately 182 metres (597 ft.) in height. And moreover, you might have noticed that the face of Sardar Patel’s statue is towards the farms the dominant reason was that Patel contributed a lot for the farmers and also created an organization called Sardar Patel Agriculture Research and also won an award for is contributional work. Patel focused on getting the princely states to join the Indian Union, modernising the administrative services, and constructing a cross-party consensus on the significant elements of the Constitution.

Patel played a very crucial role in post-independence India by successfully integrating around 562 princely states under the Indian Dominion. For which he derived a slogan called “Akhand Bharat”. Congress entrusted this intimidating task to Sardar Patel who started lobbying for integration on August 6, 1947.

A few, however, know that he was one of the primary people involved in drafting the Indian Constitution. If we today breathe in a united and independent India, we have one person – Sardar Patel – to thank more than anyone else. A subsequent meeting with Gandhi, in October 1917 fundamentally changed Patel and led him to join the Indian independence struggle. In September 1917, Patel delivered a speech in Borsad, encouraging Indians nationwide to sign Gandhi’s petition demanding Swaraj – self-rule – from Britain. Patel wasn’t interested in politics initially. It was after meeting Gandhi in 1917 that he was motivated to quit his job and join the Independence struggle. He worked extensively for the rights of common folks. As he played a substantial role in independent India, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) is celebrated on Sardar Patel’s BIRTH ANNIVERSARY (October 31). This legend died on 15 December 1950 by a heart attack.

What changes would take place if Sardar Patel comes back to life in today’s India?

He would surely be sad and furious after seeing the condition of today’s India. It is totally the opposite of what he left behind and his sacrifices for the country are waste.

Patel ruled out the armed revolution, not on moral but on practical grounds. Patel held that it would be abortive and would entail severe repression.

Politics is now a way of business for profit, which earlier was a path for the betterment of India. Every citizen has become self-greed and selfish in this harsh world of politics.

Patel was for his uncompromising attitude for the Muslims and showed equal gratitude for all religions. Which now has been a major subject of inequality of religions.

And “father of food” the farmers whom Sardar Patel adored so much are tremendously in a poor condition, while in the past they were prosperous and also their rights were protected.

We have a fair election but know a deserving leader is made silence by the feed of money or some or the other way. In every single part whether in politics or some other there is corruption, consuming liquor and so on.

Patel differed with Gandhi in realizing that the partition of the subcontinent into Hindu India and Muslim Pakistan was inevitable, and he asserted that it was in India’s interests to part with Pakistan.
That day if he had power in his hands the major partition between Pakistan and India would not have been taken place. There would have been no wars between the two nations and thousands of people would have saved their lives.

If Sardar Patel was present in this situation he would have made strict rules and would also work for the high improvement of India and work for the rights of people the same as he did earlier and also support made in India products which would lead to a prosperous growth of the country and for sure we would have much organized and better country free from corruption.
