My Expressions

Independece Day is celebrated on 15th August every year. Independence means freedom.

We attained our freedom on 15 August 1947. We got freedom after 200 years from other countries like British, France, Portugal etc. For getting  freedom many brave and driven people contributed. Like  Rani laxmi bai, Tipu Sultan, Bhagat singh, Chandra Shekar Tiwari/ Azad, Mahatma Gandhi etc many names which we know. And there are many nameless ones but all driven by one zest took part in the freedom struggle to attain the unattainable then.

Finally their sacrifices paid off and for the first time at Delhi Redfort our first Prime minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru hoisted our national flag “Tiranga”. Since then every year on every 15th August our Prime Ministers hoist the flag and addresses the nation .We can watch the live telecast of the ceremony on various news channels On this day schools have a holidays after the flag hoisting ceremony by our Principal.

But in the years after Independence, its meaning has changed and rightly so. In the year 1947 we got freedom from Britishers rule but now we need freedom from many vices such as lying, littering, stealing, cast & demarcation in society, illetracy, addiction to mobile phone, internet and so on.

So On this Independence day lets pledge that we’ll not give way into any bad habits / things & not allow anyone also to do so. Let’s be the change we want to see in our society.
