World Heart Day – 29 September

Happy World Heart Day!

We celebrate this day to create awareness about the importance of a healthy heart and its common diseases.

The heart is the organ in the body that pumps blood throughout the body through the circulatory system. It sends oxygen to other body parts and removes carbon dioxide and other wastes. If the heart doesn’t work properly, other organs in our body will also fail.

Heart diseases are called Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Heart diseases affect millions of people every year. And many heart diseases are due to unhealthy diets, use of tobacco, and lack of exercise. So, World Heart Day aims to educate people on how we can prevent heart diseases.

Theme for the day

The theme for this year’s World Heart Day is “Use Heart to Connect”. The theme encourages us to find ways to connect people to heart health. This is especially important for poorer communities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, taking care of our health has become more important than ever. Studies have also shown that there is a link between heart diseases and COVID-19. Therefore, taking care of the heart is more important than ever today.
