COVID-19: You can now book vaccine slots over WhatsApp

India reported 46,164 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours. This is a 22% jump from yesterday. India has reported about 3.5 crore cases till now, out of which about 3.17 have recovered.
You can now book slots for taking the COVID-19 vaccine through WhatsApp. This is possible through the MyGov Corona Helpdesk, the health ministry’s official COVID-19 assistance chatbot. You can also download your vaccine certificate through the MyGov Corona Helpdesk. This chatbot aims to help prevent misinformation around the coronavirus pandemic.
As cases fall in Haryana, government and private schools can open for students of Class 4 and Class 5 from 1 September. The classes will be held following strict COVID-19 rules.
Delta variant
A South Korean study has found that people infected with the Delta variant have a viral load 300 times higher than those with the original version of the COVID-19 virus. This variant (type) was first detected in India. A higher viral load means the virus spreads far more easily from person to person.
Study on vaccines
According to a new study, protection against COVID-19 offered by the Pfizer/BioNTech and the Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield in India) vaccines begins to fade within six months. This shows that additional booster shots are needed. The study was conducted in the UK and based on data from more than 1.2 million test results.
