IPL 2021: Indian bowler Harshal Patel creates record

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

The IPL 2021 (Indian Premier League) is currently underway in the United Arab Emirates.

On Wednesday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player Harshal Patel broke an IPL record. He broke the record for most wickets by an uncapped player in an Indian Premier League (IPL) season. “Uncapped” here means he has never played for the Indian national team.

Patel achieved the record during the match between RCB and Rajasthan Royals (RR). RCB won by 7 wickets and Patel took three wickets. With these three wickets, Patel has taken 26 wickets overall from 11 matches in this year’s IPL season.

Another RCB player, Yuzvendra Chahal, had previously held the record. Chahal had picked up 23 wickets in IPL 2015.

Harshal Patel is currently the captain of Haryana in the Ranji Trophy.

What is the Ranji Trophy?

The Ranji Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket championship played in India. It is held between teams representing regional and state cricket associations.

Current IPL standings

Chennai Super Kings are currently at the top of the table, followed by Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Today, Sunrisers Hyderabad will play against Chennai Super Kings at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah. This is the 44th match of IPL 2021.
