2021 T20 World Cup: Australia beat Pakistan to reach final

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

On 10 November, New Zealand beat England in the first semi-final of the ICC 2021 Men’s T20 World Cup.

Then, on 11 November, Australia beat Pakistan in a stunning late victory in the second semi-final. Australia came back from almost losing the match to beat Pakistan by five wickets.

The match was held at the Dubai International Stadium in the UAE. Australia had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Pakistan scored 176 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman both scored half-centuries.

When it was Australia’s turn to bat, things were not going well. They were struggling at 96 runs for 5 wickets. Then, Australia’s Matthew Wade stepped up and inspired Australia to a smashing victory. Wade smashed an unbeaten 41 off only 17 balls. He was awarded the Player of the Match.

The final

It was a thrilling semi-final match. Now, Australia will meet New Zealand in the final on 14 November. The match will be held at the Dubai International Stadium again and it starts at 7:30 pm IST.

Neither of the teams has ever won the T20 World Cup. So, we will see a first-time winner on 14 November 2021.
