Weakened Cyclone Gulab to intensify into another cycloneOn 26 September, Cyclone Gulab hit the eastern coast of India.
September is not usually a month in which cyclones form as the southwest monsoon season is in its withdrawal phase. So, Cyclone Gulab is only the third September cyclone that has formed in the Bay of Bengal till now. It is also the third cyclone to make landfall.
The cyclone moved across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, causing heavy rainfall along the way. It also brought heavy rains to central Maharashtra, leading to floods in some areas. It also lead to a loss of lives and damage to farms and crops. 
Reintensifying cyclone
Cyclone Gulab has weakened. And now, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) says that a low-pressure area has formed from a remnant (remainder) of Cyclone Gulab over south Gujarat. This remnant is likely to enter the Arabian Sea and intensify into another cyclone (called Shaheen) and move towards Pakistan. Moreover, this will bring rainfall over a few places over Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat.
Re-intensifying of cyclones is not a common phenomenon. However, it has been seen in India in the last couple of years.
