Oxfam's latest report on global inequality, Time to Care, re-emphasises the need for SDG 10. As per the report, the world's richest 1% have more than twice as much wealth as 6.9 billion people!

Oxfam is a group of 19 independent charitable organisations focusing on reduction of global poverty.
 	The report has been released ahead of the World Economic Forum (WEF) to be held in Davos, Switzerland from 21 to 24 January 2020.

What are the details of the report?

The report has found that the world's 2,153 billionaires have more wealth than 4.6 billion people.
 	Even in India, the total wealth of all Indian billionaires (63) is more than the full-year budget of the country itself.
 	The world's 22 richest men have more wealth than all the women in Africa.
 	The number of billionaires has doubled over the past decade.

Why is there so much inequality?

The report says that economic equality is built on gender inequality.
 	So, stronger policies that promote gender equality is needed more than ever but governments and world leaders are not doing enough to address it.
 	Oxfam also warns that ageing populations and cuts to public services increase the burden on care workers, increasing inequality.

What can be done to solve this issue?

The report recommends that, apart from addressing gender inequality, governments need to build national healthcare systems, provide free public services and increase taxes on the wealthy.
