Schools should be reopened as soon as possibleDue to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools have been closed for a long time now. While many students are taking online classes, it is not the same for all.

In a recent article published on the website of the World Health Organization (WHO), experts say that safely reopening schools has become an urgent priority. A priority is something that is most important or that you must do before anything else.

School attendance is extremely important for children’s education and development. So, keeping schools closed is something that will have strong effects on them in the future.

Studies show that since the start of the pandemic, there are more cases of anxiety, depression and other mental health issues among children. Children are also getting less physical activity. Not being in a school can also make a child more lonely and have difficulty learning. All these problems will only get worse if schools continue to stay closed.

Online classes are useful but they cannot replace what can actually be taught in a school. Additionally, not all children can attend online classes. They include many children who belong to poor classes, have disabilities and more. So, this will only increase their disadvantages.

COVID-19 does affect children. However, science says that it does not pose a high risk to children. Children are also at a lower risk of spreading the disease. Not only that, by now, we also know how to reduce the risks of spreading the disease. So, as long as the rules are properly followed, schools should open.
