No one knows the real name of famous artist Banksy

No one knows the real name of famous artist BanksyBanksy is a popular artist who became famous when he started making art on trains and walls in his home city of Bristol, the UK in the 1990s. However, no one knows who he really is. Lots of people have tried to guess who Banksy is, but his identity is still unknown.

In the UK, street art and graffiti are illegal and people who do it, face punishment. So, people think that he has remained anonymous (unknown) to avoid punishment. Initially, he made his artworks only in Bristol. But from 2000 onwards, they started appearing all over Europe and other parts of the world.

Banksy has cleverly mixed graffiti art with installations and performances. In his 2003 exhibition, titled Turf War,  he painted on the bodies of live pigs. After that, in 2005, he made replicas of the famous works of Monet, Van Gogh, and Edward Hopper. In the same year, he also secretly hung his work on the wall of big museums in New York City and London.

His artworks often carry a social message or a protest against something. One of his most famous series is the Girl with Balloon. The art shows a young girl with her hand extended toward a red heart-shaped balloon carried away by the wind. Banksy has used this to show his support for important issues, like the Syrian refugee crisis.

He has also made art about homelessness and shown his support for medical workers fighting against COVID-19.

Today, Banksy's artwork and graffiti have become very famous and people pay a lot of money for them.
