Solar farms could benefit plants and insects too

Solar farms could benefit plants and insects tooWe know that solar farms are good for the environment. They help us get clean and renewable energy from the Sun by converting solar energy into electricty.

Now, a new study says that they could benefit plants and insects as well. The study found that shade from solar panels increased the abundance of flowers (under the panels) and delayed the timing of their bloom. Both of these could help increase the crops farmers grow.
What does the study say?
Pollinators like bees play a very important role in agriculture. Pollinators carry pollen around from plant to plant and this is how trees and plants bear fruit. However, as we know many bees are dying out globally. Moreover, places where pollinators can live, such as forests and grasslands, are getting smaller and being converted into towns and farms.

So, the solar farms where more flowers grow could benefit them. Moreover, these places had more variety of flowers, which is good for pollinators.

Additionally, the also study found that areas that come under solar panels' shade had 4% more blooms than both fully shaded and full sun areas.
