‘The Crown’ tv show sweeps Primetime Emmy Awards 2021The Primetime Emmy Awards 2021 was held on Sunday in Los Angeles, US. This year was the 73rd edition of the television awards.

The Emmy Awards are considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in television. The award categories are divided into three classes. The Primetime Emmy Awards is one. The second is the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards to honour technical achievements. The third is the Primetime Engineering Emmy Awards. This recognizes significant contributions to the engineering and technological aspects of television.

Cedric the Entertainer hosted the awards show this year. They held it with COVID-19 precautions and all attendees had to show proof of vaccination.

The Crown tv show was the big winner this year, winning seven awards. They included Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actress and Best Drama Actor.

Comedy tv series Ted Lasso had the highest nominations - 13. Jason Sudeikis won Best Comedy Actor for his role in Ted Lasso. Moreover, it also won the Best Comedy Series award.

The Queen's Gambit won Best Limited Series. Other winners of the night included Kate Winslet, Gillian Anderson, and Ewan McGregor.

Moreover, RuPaul Charles made history by becoming the person of colour with the most Emmy wins - 11. He won at the Primetime Emmy Awards 2021 for his show RuPaul's Drag Race.
