Stolen lemur was found by a 5-year-old boy

A little boy helps zookeepers to find a stolen lemur. Let’s find out how!

Lemurs are one of the rarest animals on Earth. They look similar to monkeys. They are small in size, have a pointed snout, large eyes, and a long tail. Lemurs are found only on the island of Madagascar, near Africa.

Recently, a 21-year-old lemur called Maki went missing from the San Francisco Zoo in the US.

As Maki is too old to escape, the zookeepers realised that he had been stolen. They immediately started a search to find the stolen lemur and his kidnapper.

Thanks to a 5-year-old boy named James Trinh, Maki was located quickly.

James spotted the missing animal outside his preschool, about 8 km away from the zoo.

Maki was taking shelter in the school’s playground. James could recognize that it was a lemur. His teacher did not initially believe him but turns out, he was right!

The school called the authorities and now, Maki is safely back at the zoo. The police have also arrested the person who stole him.

As a reward, James and his family can visit the zoo free for their whole lives!

Rare animals like lemurs are often sold illegally to be kept as pets.
