A circus in Germany replaces animals with ‘holograms’Circus Roncalli, a circus company from Germany has combined technology and creativity to replace animals with realistic holograms* in its shows.

With this step, Roncalli becomes the first circus to end real animal performances.

The shift to holographic performance has been widely appreciated as it supports animal welfare.

Roncalli was founded in 1976. It had stopped using wild animals in the 1990s. Only domestic horses were used which has also stopped now.
 	The circus projects 3D holographic images of elephants, horses and even a goldfish, using 11 different projectors with 360° (all-around) visibility for the entire audience.
 	The founder of Roncalli, Bernhard Paul has invested more than US$ 500,000 on holographic images.

The circus has noticed an increase in audience numbers since the new technology was installed.

*Hologram: It is a kind of live image that can be projected and it gives a very realistic effect. Unlike 3D images, it can be watched through naked eyes.
