Annual Tomatina “tomato fight” is back in Spain!

The famous La Tomatina festival starts up again in the town of Buol in the eastern part of Spain. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the festival didn’t happen for two years.
La Tomatina is a traditional festival that happens in the town of Buol in the east of Spain. In La Llosa, the tomatoes for the festival are prepared.
During the festival, people from all over the world throw tomatoes at each other.

- The event is held in the small village of Buol, which every year draws tens of thousands of people.
- Nearly 100 tonnes of overripe tomatoes are unloaded from trucks along the main street of the town for people who are taking part.
- The people on the street are covered in red tomato pulp.
- Most of the time, the tomato fight goes on for an hour.
- After that, the streets of the town are sprayed with water, and the partygoers have a chance to take a shower.
- Most people wear T-shirts, shorts, and goggles to keep the tomato pulp out of their eyes.
