Sudarsan Pattnaik is a famous sand artist from Odisha who has created amazing sand art. He creates sculptures out of the sand and he has won many awards for them. He has also won a Padma Shri award (one of India’s highest honours).

For this Diwali, he created a sand art of the Hindu Goddess Kali at Puri beach in Odisha. And he did it using over 2,000 earthen diyas! The sculpture also has a message “A happy Diwali. Have a green Diwali and safe Diwali”.

Who is Goddess Kali?

In Hinduism, Kali is considered to be the goddess of time, doomsday, and death.

This year, during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in September, he had also created a sand sculpture of Lord Ganesha using 7,000 seashells on Puri beach.
