Asteroid collision caused dinosaur extinction
An asteroid collided with Earth and the dinosaurs became extinct. Researchers have been finding out the locations where the asteroid’s effect can be seen.
Where did the asteroid collision happen?
According to the scientists, the asteroid collision happened in Chicxulub, Mexico. It happened near the Yucatan Peninsula. The collision would have caused huge tidal waves and an impact crater nearly 140 kilometres wide.
What is asteroid collision?
Asteroid collision is an impact event between astronomical objects causing measurable effects.
The asteroid had a diameter of 10.6 to 80.9 km that collided with Earth over 65 million years ago. The collision was a gift for humans as the asteroid collision made it useful for the rise of humanity.
Results of asteroid collision
Asteroid collision would have resulted in huge earthquakes and volcanic activities. These apocalyptic conditions would have been the main cause of dinosaur extinction.
Scientists have also revealed that the asteroid that crashed on Earth was formed between Mars and Jupiter’s orbits.
Scientists have also released that an asteroid could hit Earth again which is a 250-million-year cycle. But, by the time it will happen, humans will be advanced to deal with the space rock problem.
