Beating Retreat Ceremony – Roots and Significance
The Beating Retreat Ceremony signifies the ending of the battle. In the 1950s the ceremony was performed by soldiers. They would lay down their arms and retreat from the battleground to their camps. In addition, the sound of drums, trumpets would echo in the skies. This would imply the end of the battle.
75 years of Independence
The Beating Retreat Ceremony is celebrated every year to mark the conclusion of Republic Day. In 2022 the ceremony marks the celebrations of India’s 75 years of Independence. It is celebrated as “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
Honourable President Ram Nath Kovind, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, will be in attendance. The ceremony is organised by the Indian Army.
The event will completely change the mood and atmosphere in Vijay Chowk, Delhi. The air will be filled with illuminations, rhythmic sounds, and patriotism.
Drone Show
For the first time in 75 years, the celebrations will include a drone show. The 10-minute event will deploy around 1,000 drones. What’s really special is that the drones are developed using indigenous (native) technology. Moreover, the event will also showcase background music organised by a startup “Botlabs Dynamics“.
