Berkeley Labs creates first fully magnetic liquid

As we know, magnets are always solid. However, researchers from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have created the first permanently magnetic liquid.

Before this, the closest invention to magnetic liquids were ferrofluids. However, ferrofluids are only magnetic temporarily (when exposed to other magnets).

They published their research in the journal Science.

Tom Russell, the lead researcher on the study said that this is the first invention of its kind.
 	The researchers studied and experimented on ferrofluids to create the new magnetic liquid.
 	They used a modified 3D printer to do this experiment!
 	The magnetic liquid can also be adjusted so that their magnetism can be switched on and off.

The researchers said that the new invention can be used in electronics and robotics.

For example, the new magnetic liquid could be used to create liquid-printed artificial cells. Or to create magnet-controlled robots that deliver drugs inside the body.
