About Olympic Games
This year, the summer Olympic Games were supposed to be held in Tokyo, Japan. But due to COVID-19, it has been postponed to July next year. However, it is still officially called Tokyo 2020.
The next Olympics after that will be in 2024 in Paris, France.
For the first time ever, the Olympic Games in 2024 will have a Dancesport event – breakdancing!
Breaking, also called breakdancing (or b-boying/b-Girling) is an athletic style of street dance, which originated in the United States. It was first held on an Olympic level at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires two years ago.
Paris Olympics 2024 will have a breakdancing event with 16 b-boys and 16 b-girls. B-boys/b-girls is the term used for competitive breakdancers. They will compete in one vs one battles against one another.
The Olympics organisers hope that including these kinds of sports will attract more younger people to watch the Olympics.
