Companies to cover cost of employees’ COVID-19 vaccines

As the vaccination drive for COVID-19 goes on in India, some private companies have come out saying that they will pay for the COVID-19 vaccines of their employees.
This includes companies like Accenture, Infosys, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), as well as SBI (State Bank of India). The Indian Banks Association has also advised its members to pay for the vaccines of its employees.
Global information technology (IT) company Accenture has as many as 2 lakh employees in the country. These employees as well as their family members who are dependent on them will get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Second phase
Recently, the government started its second phase of vaccination against COVID-19. This is for citizens above 60 years of age and citizens from 45-59 years with specified diseases. The government has provided more than 1.56 crore vaccine doses till now.
COVID-19 vaccines given at government health facilities will still be free, while private facilities cannot charge more than ₹250 per dose.
