COVID-19: Centre warns public to take precautions seriouslyToday, India reported 38,792 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is a slight increase from yesterday. Maharashtra has the highest number of cases in the country.

As cases seem to be decreasing, many people are travelling to hill stations and not following COVID-19 precautions. The centre has said that people must take warnings about a third wave seriously. It is also concerned about the increase in cases in some states and has warned the public to follow the rules.

Meanwhile, West Bengal has extended COVID-19 restrictions up to 30 July. Uttarakhand has also extended restrictions up to 20 July and cancelled the annual Kanwar Yatra religious pilgrimage (trip).

Puducherry and Madhya Pradesh are getting ready to open schools for children in higher classes this month.

India's first COVID-19 patient, a medical student in Kerala, has tested positive for the virus again. She is currently at home but is doing well.

Ruili, a city in China on the border with Myanmar, is using facial recognition technology to fight COVID-19. Officials are using it to monitor people's movements and health status. The city had reported over 155 cases last week.
