COVID-19: New mask can check if you have the virusIndia reported 46,617 new COVID-19 infections over the last 24 hours. Till now, over 3.6 crore cases have been reported in India and about 4 lakh people have died.

NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul has warned the public that even though cases are declining, the second wave of COVID-19 is not over yet. So, we must follow all precautions. The centre has also sent teams to six states reporting a high number of COVID-19 cases.

The Delta plus variant of the virus, which is highly infectious, is also a concern. Till now, 12 states have reported cases of it. However, it is not only India that is concerned about it. Cases of the delta variant are also rising in Europe and other countries across the world.

While cases are decreasing, Tamil Nadu extended its lockdown till 12 July. However, there are now fewer restrictions on restaurants, hotels and amusement parks. The UP government will also allow gyms and cinema halls to open from Monday.
New findings
Scientists at Cambridge University report that they have used AI (artificial intelligence) to find 200 potential medicines that can treat COVID-19.

Researchers at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Harvard University in the US have designed a new face mask that can tell if the wearer is infected with the COVID-19 virus. It has tiny sensors and can do that within 90 minutes. The sensors can also be put in other clothing items such as lab coats.
