Day 8 – A mix of wins and losses at Tokyo OlympicsDay 8 had been a mix of wins and losses for India at the Tokyo Olympics.

Boxer Lovlina Borgohain entered the Welterweight boxing semi-finals by beating Taiwan's Chen Nien-Chin.

Badminton Star, P. V Sindhu has also raised India's hope for a medal. She reached the semifinals by beating Akane Yamaguchi. Archer Deepika Kumari had also reached the women's individual quarterfinals by beating Ksenia Perova. But, she lost the quarterfinal to An San from Korea.

India's Avinash Sable, who specializes in the 3000 metres steeplechase, broke his own record and finished in the seventh spot in men's 3000m steeplechase heat 2. Men's boxing champion Satish Kumar also entered the quarterfinals.

Amidst the wins, Day 8 has been disheartening for all the sports fans with Mary Kom's exit from the Tokyo Olympics. She lost the game to Ingrit Valencia in the Round of 16 in the flyweight category.

Moreover, Manu Bhaker failed to qualify for the finals of 25m pistol shooting. Also, boxer Simranjeet Kaur lost to Thailand's Seesondee Sudaporn.

Currently, China is at the top with fifteen gold medals, seven silver medals and nine bronze medals. And Japan is in second place with fifteen gold, four silver and six bronze medals. India remains at the forty-sixth position with one silver medal.
