World Happiness Report 2021
This year’s report says that despite the pandemic, Finland continues to be the happiest place in the world. This is the fourth year that the country has topped the list. Other countries in the top 5 are Denmark, Switzerland, Iceland and the Netherlands. Afghanistan is at the bottom of the table.
‘One nation, one ration card’ scheme expanded to all states in India
This means that people can use their ration cards to get food rations in any state, even if they belong to another state. This will be especially useful for migrants working in different states.
COVID-19 news India
India recorded almost 40,000 cases over the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of fresh infections the country has recorded since November last year.
Maharashtra is recording the highest number of cases. The state is imposing several restrictions till 31 March to stop the spread of the disease. Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are also reporting an increase in cases.
India has so far vaccinated 3,93,39,817 people.

US Defence Secretary’s three-day trip to India
Secretary Lloyd J Austin III is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi today. He is set to meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during the visit. He is also expected to meet PM Modi as well as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. China and other regional issues are expected to be discussed.
Study says South Africa has the world’s most dangerous roads
Thailand and the US came second and third, while India came in fourth. On the other hand, the safest roads in the world can be found in Norway.
