Frogs wedding takes place in Gorakhpur to bring rain!

A wedding of its own kind has taken place in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The people believe that this wedding of two frogs will bring rain and end the drought-like situations in the state.

What is drought?

A drought is an extended duration of shortage in the water supply. It can last for months or years.

The wedding ceremony of two frogs

The wedding was organised by the Hindu Mahasangh. The ceremony was held at the Kalibari temple in Gorakhpur on Tuesday. A large number of people attended the wedding.

Before the frog wedding, a hawan puja was was organized as per Ramakant Verma of Hindu Mahasangh. According to him, the entire area is facing a drought-like situation. Five days of Sawan month have already passed but there is no run. Now, that there is no rain, they believe that the frog wedding will please the rain god “Indra”.

Moreover, to please the rain god, a group of women in the Maharajganj district of the state soaked the local MLA Jaimangal Kanojiya and Nagar Palika chairman Krishna Gopal Jaiswal in a mud tub. Mr Jaiswal said to pass through the drought-like situation, women only followed the age-old traditions.
