Greta Thunberg wins Amnesty International’s highest award

Greta Thunberg wins Amnesty International’s highest awardAmnesty International awarded Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and the Fridays for Future youth movement its ‘Ambassador of Conscience’ award on Monday.

Amnesty International is a human rights organisation. This is its highest human rights, awarded to Ms Thunberg and the organisation for their work in bringing people's attention to the problem of climate change.

The awards ceremony was held at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., US.
 	Ms Thunberg said that the prize was not just for her but the millions of youth who have taken part since last year in weekly school strikes held every Friday.
 	She added that "there is an awakening going on" and "the debate is shifting".
 	The next school strike will be on 20 September when Ms Thunberg and thousands of New York students are expected to join the protests around the world.
 	Then, on 21st September, the first Youth Climate Summit at the UN will be held.

In May, students in Bengaluru also protested to support the Fridays for Future movement.
