Happy Earth Hour Day

Earth Hour Day is an annual event and movement organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
It encourages individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights, for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on a specific day in March.
This is done as a symbol of commitment to the planet’s well being.
When and how can you take part in Earth Hour Day?
- It is celebrated on the last Saturday of March every year. This year, that day falls on 27 March.
- For one hour, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. tonight, everyone will switch off all lights and other non-essential electrical equipment.
What is the history behind this event?
- It was started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007.
- Since then, it is celebrated across 7,000 cities and towns in 187 countries and territories.
