IIT Bombay tops Indian institutions in the QS World University rankings

IIT Bombay tops Indian institutions in the QS World University rankingsIIT(Indian Institute of Technology) Bombay has been ranked as India's best university in the QS World University Rankings for 2020.

It got a global ranking of 152 and this is the second year that it has topped the Indian list.
 	Two other Indian universities — IIT Delhi (182) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) (184) — have also cracked the top 200.
 	There are a total of 23 Indian institutions in the top 1000 of the global list. While most are government-funded universities, five are privately-funded.
 	The Manipal Academy of Higher Education is the top-ranked private institution while the O.P. Jindal Global University is the only new entrant in the list this year.

Union Minister for Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank congratulated the institutions in a tweet.

The QS World University Rankings is the most widely read university rankings in the world.

It is an annual publication of university rankings which name the world’s top universities for the study of 48 different subjects and five composite faculty areas.
 	It also shows the regional rankings for Asia, Latin America, Emerging Europe and Central Asia and the Arab Region.
 	The no 1 ranked university in the world this year is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), US.
