India wins 6 medals at World Junior Wrestling Championship

The World Junior Wrestling Championship is currently underway in Ufa, Russia. It is being held from 16 to 22 August 2021. This is is a yearly event that brings together the best wrestlers from each category (Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women’s). Participants between 18 and 20 years old compete at the event.
India has won 6 medals at the World Junior Wrestling Championship till now. Indian wrestler Ravinder won the silver medal in the men’s freestyle 61kg category. This is the only silver medal for India till now. Meanwhile, Yash, Pruthviraj Patil and Anirudh Kumar secured bronze medals in the 74kg, 92kg and 125kg categories, respectively.
Earlier, Gourav Baliyan (79kg) and Deepak (97kg) had also secured bronze medals in the men’s section.
Women
As for the women, India’s Bipasha reached the 76kg final at the World Junior Wrestling Championship. The match will be held today. Moreover, Simran (50kg), Sito (55kg), Kusum (59kg) and Arju (68kg) will also be competing for bronze.
