The Thomas Cup is a badminton competition. The tournaments are held every two years. The three teams that have won the most titles in this competition are Indonesia, China, and Malaysia, 14, 10 and 5 times respectively.
Team India took part in this competition for the first time in 1952. In 2022, they won the Thomas Cup for the first time. An amazing journey that lasted for seven decades.
India has never done better in a competition before. In 1979, when they made it all the way to the semi-finals was the last time they were this close to winning.

- India was finally able to take home the top prize in badminton after registering a victory over Indonesia.
- World Championships medalist Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy all produced memorable performances to help India earn the victory.
- Lakshya Sen prevailed over Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia in the first match of the men’s singles competition with a score of 8-21, 21-17, and 21-16.
- Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty prevailed over Mohammad Ahsan and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo in the first match of the men’s doubles competition with a score of 18-21, 23-21, 21-19.
- In the second men’s singles match, Kidambi Srikanth prevailed over Jonatan Christie in straight sets by the scores of 21-19 and 23-21.
