Inspirational Paralympian – Yogesh Kathuniya.
Yogesh Kathuniya is an Indian discus thrower. You may have recently heard his name – he won a silver medal in the men’s discus throw F56 event at the Tokyo Paralympics.
This is a very big achievement and Yogesh could do it, despite facing many difficulties.
At the age of eight, Yogesh Kathuniya experienced a paralytic attack which made him lose coordination of his limbs. However, despite his physical disability, he didn’t lose hope and continued to work hard. His philosophy is “Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong”.
International career
He made his international debut in 2018. And created a world record in the international discus throw competition at the Para-athletics Grand Prix held in Berlin, Germany. Moreover, this inspirational Paralympian also claimed bronze in the men’s discus throws F56 final at World Para-Athletics Championships 2019. This helped him book a spot to represent India in Para-athletics at the Tokyo Paralympics. And as they say, the rest is history!
