Opportunities of jobs have changed with time
Recommended for Secondary Grades
The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) has released a report which said that there is a steady rise over the years in the labour force participation rate (LFPR). It includes the population who are either working or trying to seek work in the country.
Employment report by MoLE
The report by MoLE suggests that the population of working age may be working or may not be working. A portion of the people are either pursuing education or are engaged in unpaid activities like the production of goods or unpaid domestic activities, volunteering etc.
As per the statements by the education ministry for the year 2019-2020, more than 10 crores of people were enrolled in secondary, higher secondary and technical education. The majority of the students are in the working-age population.
The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) gives employment estimates in the country. They also give estimates of unemployment like labour force participation rate (LFPR) and worker population ratio (WPR). And according to the worker population ratio, the government gets the estimate of the number of people who are employed or unemployed.
The social media conclusion that people have lost hope for jobs is incorrect.
COVID-19 effects on jobs
Due to COVID-19, the working population have suffered a lot. The offices were shut and everyone was confined at home. The work-from-home or the hybrid system began then.
A report by Deloitte suggested that women who are working in a hybrid system have felt left out on the work front and stressed due to the double responsibilities.
The company has conducted research on women and as per the results, there would be long-term impacts as stress rates remain high. To see the job change, only 9% of women have been looking for change actively, while some of them have backed out due to poor mental health and stress.
The employment sector has changed a lot in the last two years, therefore, the people may need time to find the right jobs, that will be of some use to them.
