Journalists – Bringing news to you from around the worldHow many of you watch the news on TV? Who are those people sharing news on various events happening around the world? They are called journalists.

A journalist is a person who collects, writes or distributes news or other current information to the public.
 	This information can be in the form of reports, articles, audios or videos.
 	A journalist works on the day to day news and issues of society. Some may also focus on specific issues such as war, water crisis and politics.
 	According to the type of work, journalists are classified into many categories. They include reporters, editors, editorial writers, columnists and photojournalists. For eg: reporters research and collects information about various events.
 	A journalist's work is called journalism.

Journalists are an important group of people whose job is to maintain checks and balances in society.

Therefore, they are expected to follow a high degree of work ethics (to be fair and just) in their profession.
 	India has a great history of journalism, even during the pre-independence period.
 	Mahatma Gandhi was a great supporter of ethical journalism.
 	 Some well-known journalists today are Barkha Dutt, Ravish Kumar, Anderson Cooper and more.
