A kite is a device that floats through the air at the end of a thread. Kite flying is not just an attempt to see how high it has gone but it is a passion too.

It is a professional sport in Thailand. It is an ancient sport that has rules and regulations. The sport also involves everyone from kings to commoners.

The kite may be large, medium or heavy, simple or complex, but everyone has the same enthusiasm when flying it. Kites are also given beautiful names like falcon, hawk, etc.
History
Kites have a long and varied history. During ancient times, they were flown for recreation and art or other purposes.

There are usually two types of kites. One is a sport kite and another is a power kite. Sport kites are for Ariel ballet. But the power kites are for generating forces that can be utilized in power activities like kite surfing, snowkiting, etc.

Kites originated in Asia. The oldest types of kites are said to be seen in ancient cave paintings in Indonesia, thousands of years ago. They were called Kaghatis. Kaghatis are made of a leaf of forest tuber, bamboo skin, and pineapple fibre, etc. However, China also claims that the kite is their invention.
