Legislative Assembly Elections: ECI releases the results

Legislative Assembly Elections were held from 10th February to 7th March 2022. The legislative elections were held in five states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa.

This year, Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP) won in the four states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa. Punjab will have the government of the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP). Election Commision of India(ECI) has released the results.

Bhartiya Janta Party has won majority votes in UP, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa.  BJP is the first party in the last 35 years to win a second consecutive term to be in power.

Uttar Pradesh

Bhartiya Janta Party has created history in Uttar Pradesh by securing the highest number of  274 seats out of 403 seats.  Yogi Adityanath has become the first Chief Minister to return back to power after completing his full tenure of five years.

Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, BJP won a total of 47 seats. This is for the second time that Bhartiya Janta Party has got more than 40% votes in Uttarakhand. On the other hand, BJP won 32 seats in Manipur.

Manipur

BJP won 32 seats in Manipur whereas Congress won only 5 seats. CM Biren Singh won from Heingang seat. He said that BJP’s victory justifies people’s faith in Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Goa

Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP)  won 20 out of 40 seats in the state. BJP will form a government in Goa for the third consecutive term. They will take the support of three independent candidates and 2 Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party(MGP) candidates to form a government in Goa.

Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab

Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) won in Punjab, taking over the rule of Congress. AAP Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann won the election.

As per the results of the Legislative Assembly Elections, Bhartiya Janta Party is now ruling in 17 states. The current results have raised hopes that the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections will be in favour of the BJP.
