Women’s Day saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi meet with the Nari Shakti Puraskar award recipients. In recognition of their contributions, President Kovind presented honours to 29 women. Radhika Menon, a captain in the Merchant Navy, and Anita Gupta, a social entrepreneur, are among the winners.
Nari Shakti Puraskar – A Proud Initiative!
The Nari Shakti Puraskar 2022 programme is one of the government of India’s initiatives. It provides financial assistance to deserving women. Thus, in honour of Women’s Day, Nari Shakti Puraskars are given out. Moreover, the Government of India confers the Nari Shakti Puraskar to deserving individuals. Hence, awards are granted to those who have made a significant contribution toward the advancement of women’s rights.
Nari Shakti Puraskar – 2022
On March 8th, 2022, the recipients of the Nari Shakti Puraskar 2022 are notified of their awards. 29 women will share in a total of 28 awards, 14 each for 2020 and 2021. It is the highest civilian award granted to women.
Notable Winners
The Ministry of Women and Child Development, part of the government of India, will give out a cash prize of 2,00,000/- to people and groups who deserve it. The government rewards women so that they can become more self-reliant and secure their place in the world.
