The Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium
Qatar is set to host the FIFA Football World Cup in 2022. With this in mind, it is building new stadiums to host the matches.
Recently, it unveiled (opened) its amazing new World Cup venue, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.
The stadium is located in the city of Al Rayyan. Its outer surface glows and has patterns that symbolise different aspects of Qatar – the importance of family, the beauty of the desert, native flowers, etc.
It can accommodate up to 40,000 people and will host seven games at the World Cup in 2022.
The Stadium
The Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium was officially opened on Qatar National Day (18 December) to host the 48th Emir’s Cup final. The Emir of Qatar Cup is a football tournament that is played in the country every year.
The new stadium was built on the site of an old stadium. Qatar’s Al Balagh Trading & Contracting, and India’s biggest construction firm – Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) worked together to build it.
It is located near other World Cup venues. This will make it easy for fans to travel around while watching different matches.
The stadium will also host the FIFA Club World Cup matches in the near future.
Sustainability is at the heart of Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium’s DNA ♻️
