It is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose (or blood sugar) is too high. This happens when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps the body absorb sugar. So, when your blood sugar is too high, your body faces many problems.

Diabetes is a big problem today among many people. This is often due to an unhealthy lifestyle. Even India has over 77 million cases of diabetes. And it can affect children too.

Recently, scientists in Australia have developed a pain-free test for checking blood sugar levels in diabetics (people suffering from diabetes).
How does it work?
Instead of the usual method of using blood, this test is a strip that checks glucose levels using saliva. People who suffer from diabetes need to keep a check on their sugar levels regularly. So, this test can be a piece of good news for all those who are afraid of needles. Moreover, the scientists said that the test will also be low cost.

As of now, they are putting the test through different trials. In the future, the same technology could also be used to test for COVID-19, hormones and even cancer.
