Scientists discover gene linked to being left-handed

Scientists discover gene linked to being left-handedWe celebrated International Lefthanders Day a while back on 13th August.

Now, scientists at the University of Oxford in the UK have discovered the gene* that is linked to left-handedness.
They have published their report in the journal Brain.

According to the report, there could be a correlation between verbal ability i.e. language and left-handedness.
 	The study, led by researchers at the University of Oxford, analysed the gene profile of about 400,000 people from the UK Biobank, including 38,332 left-handers.
 	Researchers also analysed the brain images from about 10,000 of the people studied. They found that there were differences in the brain's white matter, in particular, the areas associated with language.
 	For the first time in human history, the difference in people's brains (between those who preferred their right or left hand) was visible and established in the brain CT(Computed Tomography) scan.
