The 2021 Wimbledon Championships begins today. The tournament is from 28 June to 11 July 2021. Wimbledon is the most prestigious (respected) of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. The other three are the French Open, US Open and Australian Open.

The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, UK will host the tournament. 2021 Wimbledon is the 134th edition of the tournament.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic led to its cancellation. So, the last winners (from 2019) were Novak Djokovic and Simona Halep. However, Simona Halep is not playing this time due to an injury. Tennis stars Rafael Nadal and Naomi Osaka are also not playing this year.
Football
At Euro 2020, defending champions Portugal are out of the tournament after losing to Belgium in the round of 16. Italy, Denmark and the Czech Republic are also through to the last 8.

As for Copa America 2021, Venezuela and Bolivia are out of the tournament. The other 8 teams, including Brazil and Argentina, are through to the next round.
Tokyo Olympics
As the Olympics are about to start, some people in Tokyo are protesting against it. This is because they are worried that it will make the COVID-19 pandemic worse.
