Take a virtual trip to the ancient temples of Baalbek today

Recommended for Middle Grades

Baalbek is an ancient city in Lebanon. It is home to the famous Baalbek temples complex.

This complex includes two of the largest and grandest Roman temples. They are the Temple of Bacchus and the Temple of Jupiter. The place, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, is popular among tourists. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people are unable to visit.

Now, thanks to technology, you can tour Baalbek from anywhere in the world.

A new virtual tour called Baalbek Reborn: Temples has been launched. Through this online tour, you can “visit” Baalbek. Moreover, you can also see what the city looked like 2000 years ago. Anyone can go on the tour online and free of charge.

Baalbek Reborn: Temples

The tour was created with a combination of computer programmes, blueprint drawings of the complex, high-quality photos and videos taken by drones.

However, of course, this tour cannot replace a real visit but it aims to raise awareness of this unique world heritage site. It will also encourage more tourism to Lebanon in general.

Where is Lebanon located?

Lebanon is located in the Middle-East, in Western Asia. It shares its borders with Israel and Syria
