Tokyo Olympics

They say hard work pays off, always. Whether we win a medal or not, the spirit of playing through the game is the real win. Indian athletes are showing the same spirit throughout the Olympics.

Indian discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur finished at 6th place in the women’s discus throw final. She attempted her best throw of 63.70 metres in her third attempt. The US’s Valarie Allman won the gold medal in this game. Moreover, women’s wrestling also faced a loss as the 19-year-old Sonam Malik lost in the round of 16.

Lovlina Borgohain will play against Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey in the boxing semi-finals on  Wednesday. With this game, she will become the first Indian boxer to advance to the finals in Olympics.

Unfortunately, the Indian Men’s hockey team also lost the semi-final to world champions, Belgium by the score of 2-5. But India will now play for the bronze medal. Let’s keep our hopes high for a win.

World Medal Tally at Tokyo Olympics

China is on the top with a total of 29 gold medals. The US and Russia are second and third respectively. India is at 63rd position with two medals.

San Marino became the smallest country to win an Olympic medal. Alessandra Perilli won their first bronze medal in shooting at Tokyo Olympics.
