Track the Mars rover, Perseverance on its way to the Red Planet

Recommended for Preparatory Grades

NASA launched its latest Mars mission with the Perseverance rover in July. The spacecraft is now on its way to Mars and is scheduled to get there in February 2021. But can you track the Mars rover?

While it is on its way there, you can follow its journey in real-time! This means, at any moment, NASA’s technology will help you track the Mars rover and tell you exactly where it is in space.

Using NASA’s Eyes software, you can see a simulated (computer created but life-like) view of the Mars spacecraft’s journey.

You can also travel through the solar system and beyond. If you zoom out, you can see where the craft is in relation to the rest of the solar system as well as the planets.

Zooming out even further shows you where our Sun and solar system are located in the Milky Way!

The map shows where other NASA missions are located too. This includes the planet-hunting telescope Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), Parker Solar Probe, the Bennu spacecraft, and more. Clicking on the names of these objects or the planets will show you information about them.

You can also choose the 3D mode and experience it all with a pair of 3D glasses!

You can see track Mars rover and more on this website.
