Video: Exploding meteor lights up the sky in Melbourne

This year, on Valentine’s Day (14 February), people in the city of Melbourne, Australia saw a very special sight – a meteor.

A meteor flashed across the night sky around 10:41 pm, lighting it up. A meteor is a piece of rock or metal from space. It burns very brightly when it enters the earth’s atmosphere. This meteor was only about the size of a marble.

When it happened, the city was in a 5-day lockdown due to COVID-19. Melbourne is one of Australia’s biggest and most important cities.
