The Southwest Monsoon has advanced and finally covered the whole country. While the south and central India regions experienced early monsoon, it was delayed for parts of north and northwest India. The monsoon took 40 days in order to complete its onset. The start of the 2021 monsoon over Delhi is the second most delayed since 2002.

However, the monsoon has led to very heavy rainfall in many parts of India. It has led to flash floods in parts of Himachal Pradesh. The floods washed away houses and cars in Dharamshala and Kangra. The government is keeping a close eye on the situation.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also put the Konkan area, Goa and Central Maharashtra on red alert due to heavy rainfall. IMD has also predicted heavy rain for parts of Gujarat, Telangana, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Assam, Meghalaya and more.
Lightning strikes
In other weather news, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh have experienced thunderstorms with lightning strikes. It has led to the death of about 65 people.

In Jaipur, Rajasthan, lightning hit Amer Fort - a popular tourist spot, causing a great tragedy. Death due to lightning strikes happens every year in India.
