A house for ₹87

What can you buy with ₹87? Some packets of chips, a bottle of coca-cola? Well, you could instead buy a house!

Some villages in Italy are offering to sell houses for one euro (approximately ₹87) each to anyone. However, they must be willing to restore (repair) them. These villages are often empty and the houses are old and worn down. So, the aim of this project is to bring people to live in the villages as well as attract tourists.

In fact, houses in the town of Maenza are even more attractive. Apart from a house for ₹87 price tag, this town, unlike the rest, is very near to Rome, the capital of Italy. The house owners will put up the houses for sale till 28 August. However, not to worry, more will be on sale soon.

What are the conditions to buy the house?

Buyers must agree to restore the house within three years. They will also have to pay 5,000 euros (about ₹4.3 lakhs) as a guarantee that they will restore the house. They will get this amount back when the repairs are done. Moreover, buyers also need to explain properly what they plan to do with the house if they will not live there.

So, do you think buying a house for ₹87 is a good idea?
