About the European Tree of the Year contest!

The European Tree of the Year contest was first held in 2011. The award is inspired by the Czech Republic’s Tree of the Year contest, which has been running for a long time. The Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation (EPA) runs the contest. The European round is the final, and it is made up of the winners of the country rounds.

Purpose of the contest!

The goal of the European Tree of the Year is to show how important old trees are to our natural and cultural heritage. So, like other contests, the European Tree of the Year doesn’t look at things like beauty or size. On the contrary, it looks at the tree’s story and how people are connected to its roots, not just its looks.
