Dornier 228 passenger aircraft takes first flight

Made-in-India Dornier 228 passenger aircraft takes off

The first Made-in-India Dornier 228 passenger aircraft took its first flight on Tuesday, 12th April 2022. The aircraft will take flight from Dibrugarh in Assam to Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh.

Alliance Air will operate the Dornier 228 passenger aircraft which will be started by Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The aircraft is a 17-seater and it has an air-conditioned cabin that is capable of day and night operations.

Dornier passenger aircraft will make it easy to create regional connectivity in North-Eastern states and better connectivity. Along with Dornier’s first flight, the first Flying Training Organization (FTO) will be inaugurated in the North-Eastern region at Lilabari, Assam.

Dornier 228 aircraft are used by the armed forces to date.

Alliance Airlines

Alliance Airlines has signed an agreement with the government-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to lease two 17-seater Dornier 228 aircraft. The airline received its first Dornier 228 plane on 7th April 2022.

Along with Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu attended the inauguration ceremony.
